The Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale OAM wants you to nominate your local hero or superstar business in Blacktown City Council’s Australia Day Awards.
Award Categories
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year (21 years or younger)
- Community Event of the Year
- Environmental Citizen of the Year
Eligibility Criteria
- Citizen of the Year – To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen who has, on a voluntary basis, contributed to the welfare and betterment of the people within the Blacktown community throughout the year and/or over a number of years.
- Young Citizen of the Year (21 years or younger) – To be eligible, the person must be an Australian Citizen and 21 years of age or less on 26 January 2023, who has provided outstanding community service and/or attained outstanding achievement in academics, sport or the arts during the year and/or over a number of years.
- Community Event of the Year – This is presented to the group that has staged the most outstanding community event in 2022.
- Environmental Citizen of the Year – This award is open to individuals and organisations within Blacktown City championing litter reduction and/or environmental initiatives in the local community. Local recipients of this environmental award will go in the running to become the state winner and receive a grant valued at $5,000 to go towards their community initiative.
