Apply for Muslim Leaders Development Fund 2018!

Deadline: 4 November 2018

National Zakat Foundation (NZF) and the Aziz Foundation are seeking applications for its Muslim Leaders Development Fund 2018 to support emerging leaders who can demonstrate a high level of commitment to community service as well as the aspirations to lead and inspire in their respective field.

They recognise the instrumental role leaders play in their respective communities and the importance of enhancing leadership skills to support individual and collective commitment to God. This is for the benefit of the Muslim community and wider society.

Applications can be made for the funding of courses that are both academic and vocational in nature, including short courses. Examples of types of training that will be supported include writing and project management courses, as well as media training.

Funding Information

The maximum grant limit is £10,000 and funding is for up to one academic year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The MLDF is open to emerging leaders who can demonstrate a high level of commitment to community service and the aspiration to lead and inspire in their field. Emerging leaders must have identified education or training that will increase their effectiveness in one of the following three community development areas:
    • Better Public Perception – Change perceptions towards Islam and Muslims in the UK positively and significantly by promoting understanding and engagement.
    • Religious Scholarship and Literacy – Inspire Muslims towards a deeper commitment to God, by developing robust intellectual religious leadership and initiatives that can provide guidance.
    • Effective Representation – Facilitate better faith-based representation and contribution of the Muslim community in the public sphere.
  • Applicants must demonstrate that they are unable to afford the costs of the proposed education or training.
  • Funding is for up to one academic year.
  • The MLDF is open to UK residents only.

As with any investment, NZF and Aziz Foundation will undertake an assessment of applications in various areas including academic performance, work experience, Islamic learning (formal and informal), references and community service.
