International Visegrad Fund: Seeking Applications for Standard Grants Program Worldwide

The International Visegrad Fund is inviting non-governmental, civil society organizations (NGOs and CSOs), municipalities, schools and other public institutions for its funding program “Standard Grants”.

Each year the Visegrad Fund also supports projects addressing annual strategic goals of the Visegrad Group. In 2017 they include regional competitiveness and connectivity, security and stability and promotion of the V4.

Grant amounts vary depending on the size and scope of the project. The average grant support for supported project in 2016 was around €20,000.

Project Categories

  • Any original proposal can get support if it deals with V4 regional cooperation, advancement of innovativeness and sustainability in Central and Eastern Europe in one of our eight focus areas:
    • Culture and common identity
    • Education and capacity building
    • Environment
    • Democratic values and the media
    • Public policy and institutional partnerships
    • Scientific exchange and research cooperation
    • Regional development, entrepreneurship and tourism
    • Social development
  • Aside from 8 regular support areas, the fund seeks projects addressing strategic goals of the Visegrad Group:
    • Competitiveness and connectivity (EU single market digitalization & EU Digital Agenda; North–South transport and energy links; Science technology, innovation-based economy, regional start-up cooperation)
    • Security and stability (Implementation of the Warsaw NATO Summit decisions; Future of CSDP; Military cooperation; Cyber security)
    • Promotion of the V4 (Public awareness of the Visegrad Group especially among the youth; External promotion of the V4 outside as a modern, livable, creative & innovative region)
  • The fund also seeks proposals particularly targeting Eastern Partnership countries. These can be eligible for co-funding by partner donors if addressing one of seven priorities:
  • Healthcare
  • Education
  • Rural development
  • Good governance
  • Legislation and justice
  • Communication, media and access to information
  • Development of civil society/support of human rights and minorities

Eligibility Criteria

  • Any legal entity (organization) or natural person (private citizen) worldwide is eligible to apply with a project proposal involving participation of at project partners from at least 3 V4 countries.
  • Preferences are given to appli­cants from non-governmental, civil society organizations (NGOs/CSOs), municipalities and local governments.
  • Applications from public schools, universities, research and scientific bodies and public institutions in general are also considered.
  • Projects that deal with specific local issues in border areas/regions (e.g. Tokaj wine region, Těšínsko/Śląsk Cieszyński, the Tatras) within 40 km from the border can be implemented on a bilateral basis.
