OSISA Call for Proposals: Supporting Active Civic Engagement in the Political Transition in Zimbabwe

Deadline: 8 January 2018

The Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) has announced the Call for Proposals for its continuing work in Zimbabwe through grant-making and advocacy on democratic and economic reforms. This includes support for public participation in the political and socio-economic processes that advance promotion and protection of human rights, improve the quality of life and enhance transparent and accountable governance.

In this regard, OSISA seeks proposals that will advance civic activism on democratic transition; enhance promotion and protection of human rights, increase citizen participation in the electoral process, support inclusive dialogue on economic reforms and promote media freedoms.

Only proposals focusing on political and economic governance in Zimbabwe and related matters will be considered. OSISA seeks to respond to the transition by using the opportunity to advocate for constitutional order and respect for fundamental rights and freedoms

Activities

Proposals to be considered for funding will focus on:

  • Civic activism that engages the transition and clearly advocates for democratic and economic reforms;
  • Enhancing human rights monitoring, documentation and reporting;
  • Increasing electoral assistance: electoral reforms, voter registration, voter education and participation;
  • Supporting robust media and alternative media platforms;
  • Supporting inclusive dialogue on economic reforms.

Funding Information

Total project costs must be between USD10000 to USD150000.

Ownership and Sustainability

Project proposals should include actions that would allow greater involvement of organizations or individuals resident in Zimbabwe and the SADC region. Proposals that better involve and ensure the civil society and community participation will be prioritized.
