U.S. Embassy in Armenia: Democracy Commission Small Grants Program

U.S. Embassy in Yerevan, Armenia has announced the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program competition for fiscal year 2018 to fund initiatives that develop democracy, promote respect for human rights, and support civic education in Armenia.

Focus Areas

Special consideration will be given to proposals that focus on one or more of the following:

  • Enhance cooperation among the media, civil society, and the general public to eliminate different forms of corruption;
  • Advance human rights, especially those with a focus on minorities and vulnerable groups within society, including individuals with disabilities, victims of gender-based violence, refugees, and members of the LGBTI community;
  • Promote opportunities for women and integrate women into decision-making processes within their communities, especially those with a focus on young women;
  • Support transparency and accountability in governance;
  • Develop independent, diverse, and pluralistic media in Armenia, including investigative journalism;
  • Enhance economic growth and development and particularly entrepreneurship and tourism in Armenia;
  • Promote reconciliation and lasting partnerships between the people of Armenia and Azerbaijan and/or Turkey, including plans for continued cooperation after the project ends.

Funding Information

  • Award Floor: $ 5,000
  • Award Ceiling: $ 24,000

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-governmental, non-for-profit organizations (NGOs) and independent media outlets registered in Armenia.
  • Grants may not be used for partisan political activities.
