U.S. Department of Justice, OVW: Rural Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence and Stalking Program

The United States Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women is seeking applications for its 2019 Rural Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, and Stalking Assistance Program to support projects designed to address and prevent sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking in rural jurisdictions.

Purpose Areas

  • To identify, assess, and appropriately respond to child, youth, and adult victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking in rural communities, by encouraging collaboration among domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking victim service providers; law enforcement agencies; prosecutors; courts; other criminal justice service providers; human and community service providers; educational institutions; and health care providers, including sexual assault forensic examiners;
  • To establish and expand nonprofit, nongovernmental, State, tribal, territorial, and local government victim services in rural communities to child, youth, and adult victims; and
  • To increase the safety and well-being of women and children in rural communities, by-
    • dealing directly and immediately with domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking occurring in rural communities; 
    • creating and implementing strategies to increase awareness and prevent domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking.

  • Award Ceiling: $750,000

  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • State governments
  • Special district governments
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • County governments
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
  • City or township governments
