Applications Open for USAID’s Transparency in Health Engagement Project!

Deadline: 9 October 2017

Applications are Open for the USAID’s Transparency in Health Engagement Project which is a two-year project (March 2017 to March 2019) with a goal to improve health services for Albanian citizens by focusing on fighting corruption and encouraging cooperation among selected independent government agencies, civil society organizations (CSOs) and media to urge for more responsible governance in the health sector.

The Project will work to strengthen capacities of three independent government agencies: the Albanian Supreme Audit Institution, the High Inspectorate for the Declaration and Audit of Assets and the Prevention of Conflicts of Interest, and the Ombudsman Office. The Project will also strengthen the capacity of selected civil society organizations and media sources to identify corruption risks and to pressure government to take actions to reduce risks and pursue repercussions for occurrences of corruption in the health sector.

The Project strategic approach is to increase the capacity and effectiveness of media and civil society as well as to increase awareness of the public about corruption in the health sector, through the small grants mechanism. These grants aim to promote media and CSO roles as ‘watchdog’ entities to keep public health officials and governance accountable and transparent.
