The American Psychological Foundation (APF) is seeking applications for its Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grant that provide graduate student grants (preference given to dissertation candidates) for empirical or applied research that encourages the study of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) family psychology and LGBT family therapy. Researchers from all fields of the behavioral and social sciences are encouraged to apply.
APF is a grant-making foundation that funds early career psychologists and graduate students using psychology to solve important problems and improve people’s lives.
APF makes grants in the Following Areas
- Understanding the connection between behavior and health.
- Reducing stigma and prejudice.
- Preventing violence.
- Addressing the long-term psychological needs in the aftermath of disaster.
- Treating serious mental illness.
- Studying gifted children and adolescents.
- Examining human reproductive behaviors.
- Exploring child psychology.
Funding Information
$11,000 grant for empirical and applied research focused on lesbian, gay and bisexual family psychology and lesbian, gay and bisexual and transgender family therapy.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be an advanced graduate student, in good standing, endorsed by supervising professor
- Demonstrate commitment to LGBT family issues
- IRB approval must be received from host institution before funding can be awarded if human participants are involved
