The Alberta Community Restorative Justice Grant program is now open for applications to support and grow restorative justice initiatives and services in your community.
Funding Information
- Grants will be limited to:
- up to $50,000 per program for one year (2022-23)
- established or ongoing programs
- new programs in communities with a prior history of
- restorative justice programs or
- restorative practice in the justice system
- Not all applications will be funded. Others might be recommended for a lesser amount.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be:
- located in Alberta
- one of the following:
- a registered non-profit organization
- a registered charity in good standing
- a community-based coalition or network group with an incorporated fiscal agent
- an Indigenous community, including band and tribal councils
- a youth justice committee applying to fund activities not currently funded by the ministry
- Restorative Justice Grant Proposal Must:
- Employ the principles and application of restorative justice;
- Demonstrate benefits to victims, offenders, and the community;
- Operate within the context of the Canadian justice system; and
- Include at least two (2) letters illustrating support from the local police service, a regional Crown Prosecutor, probation services,
- victims’ group, or other community-based referral agencies, expressing an intention to make referrals.
