The Horsham District Council has launched the Community Climate Fund for local voluntary and community groups that share their vision of becoming a carbon-neutral District.
Horsham District Council aims to enable local community groups and Parish Councils to take action to reduce carbon emissions in their local communities. The Fund will support new projects that will make a difference and also benefit the wider community. They also want successful applicants to spread the message on the actions they have taken and help promote the Fund.
Priorities
- Carbon Emissions – Reduce carbon emissions and other climate warming gases
- Energy – Reduce consumption of energy and install low carbon or renewable forms of energy
- Water – Reduce consumption of water and reduce threats from flooding
- Waste – Minimise waste, reduce, reuse, and recycle
- Biodiversity – Increase biodiversity and wildlife in the district
- Transport – Reduce the need to travel and increase cycling, walking and use of public transport
Funding Information
There are 3 levels of funding available:
- up to £1,000
- up to £2,500 (would require more information from the applicant)
- up to £5,000 (this category requires equal match funding from the applicant so that the grant can support larger projects.
Eligible Projects
- Be a new initiative
- Have longevity beyond the funding provided by the Council with a commitment to ongoing maintenance
- Include a commitment to inform the wider community about the project and encourage others to take action.
- Take place within the Horsham District.
Eligibility Criteria
- Voluntary or community groups, Registered Charity, Constituted group or club, Community interest company (CIC), social enterprise, school, Parish Councils. Faith groups may also apply, provided their projects are inclusive.
- They will concentrate on helping existing, not for profit organisations to deliver new projects. Organisations may only apply once per calendar year for this grant.
- Your organisation must:
- Provide community activities or services within the Horsham District.
- Have a formal constitution or set of rules.
- Have a bank account requiring at least two unrelated signatories.
- Operate with no undue restrictions on membership.
- Have a safeguarding policy for children, young people and vulnerable adults where appropriate.
