The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications for Women and Minorities in Corrections Curriculum Update 2021. The purpose of this Cooperative Agreement is to update the curriculum for the course, Management

The National Institute of Corrections seeks to update the curriculum entitled: Management Development for Women and Minorities in Corrections. The goal is to provide women and minorities with the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills vital to their development as effective managers and leaders in corrections.

Despite the increase of career opportunities in the corrections field, qualified staff are often hampered in career advancement because they lack significant management experience. Sometimes the challenge is that only a few employees have the needed skills to take on comprehensive assignments. To address this issue, “Corrections needs to invest some time into helping other employees acquire those needed skills” (Williams and Multhaup, 2018). To meet this challenge effectively requires the development of diverse managerial and leadership skills.

NIC expects to make one award for as much as $110,000.00 for a 12-month project period.
