Applications are now open for the Doonie Fund to provide micro -investments (under $1000) to Black women entrepreneurs regardless of business category.
- The Doonie Fund started with a $ 10,000 personal donation from Kathryn Finney to honor her grandmother, Kathryn “Doonie” Hale. The fund receives support from Doonie's friends and family, as well as amazing partners such as Pivotal Ventures, UBS, Microsoft, Surdna Foundation and Impact Seat.
- The Doonie Fund 20 21 grants are funded by a $ 50,000 gift from Kathryn Finney.
The Doonie Fund investment criteria are straightforward. Potential investments have to:
- self-identify as a Black woman,
- work on their business full-time, and
- have an esablished, active web presence (ex: an active website, Shopify, Instagram, etc.).
The fund is purposely frictionless as Kathryn believes that Black women know what's best for their businesses. Investments are distributed directly into the entrepreneurs' accounts, within days. Currently, you must have a verified PayPal account to receive funds.

The Doonie Fund investment criteria are straightforward. Potential grantees:
- Self-identify as a member of the African Diaspora
- Self-identify as a “woman” and / or non-binary
- Business is based in the United States
- Business has an established, active web presence (ex: an active website, Shopify site url, Instagram, etc.).
- The fund is purposely frictionless as they firmly believe that Black women know what's best for their businesses. Investments are distributed directly into the entrepreneurs' accounts. Currently, you must have a verified Paypal account to receive funds.
- The Fund only support US based businesses run by Black women.
