Eligibility Criteria
- The 2023 East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator will have a tighter scope than in past years, with a specific focus on innovations that help to address arguably health and care’s most pressing issue today: supporting the workforce.
- They have engaged with leaders from health and care systems across the region to understand their workforce challenges, priorities and where opportunities could emerge for innovative digital technologies to make an impact. These system representatives will be actively involved in candidate selection and will help them determine which applicants best fit their needs and have the greatest potential for future adoption.
- The following workforce challenge areas have been identified through this process and form the basis of the selection criteria for the 2023 programme:
- How can they support the health and wellbeing of the staff?
- This could include digital tools that enable flexible working, education, training and professional development along with improving general health, fitness, diet, mental health and wellbeing. They will also consider innovations which apply more broadly to patients and the public in this category.
- How can they promote equality, diversity and inclusion across the workforce?
- NHS staff surveys consistently indicate that equality, diversity and inclusion need to be improved, with LGBTQ+, BAME and disabled people all reporting relatively poor staff experience compared with the majority. They are open to innovative approaches to improving staff experience and inclusion across all demographics using digital technology.
- How can they better plan the workforce and integrate this with other strategic functions?
- The health and care partners have indicated that, whilst there are many solutions already available that support a variety of the aspects of planning at an organisational level, they perceive a need to better integrate these functions and expand them to reflect the shift to integrated care systems. For example, tools that can project and manage the finance, people and activity needed to deliver a service or pathway change across multiple organisations and sectors such as health, social care and voluntary.
