The Greater Shepparton City Council has anounced its Australia Day Grants to support and strengthen the community by providing funding for an event that has the capacity to attract the whole community to come together, celebrate what’s great about the community and recognise the national day of celebration.
Objectives
The intention of the funding is to assist with facilitation of an event / acknowledgement ceremony which achieves some or all of the following objectives:
- Build new social connections and partnerships within communities, or reinforce those that already exist.
- Encourage community participation in a Australia Day event / acknowledgement ceremonies and/or activities.
- A welcoming and inclusive acknowledgement ceremony / event for the whole community.
- Event / acknowledgment ceremony to be held in an accessible community space.
- Showcase the community identity by engaging local talent, or providing artistic and/or cultural activity within your event / acknowledgement ceremony.
- Recognise local and Greater Shepparton Australia Day Award winners.
- Adequate marketing and promotion of your event / acknowledgement ceremony.
- The recognition of the full history of Aboriginal Australia reflected in the Australia Day event / acknowledgement ceremony.
- Enable community members to acquire or develop a new skill.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications can be made by not-for-profit groups or organisations.
- Applications can be made by Community Planning Groups.
- Where an application is made by a group that is not an Incorporated Association; the applicants will need to nominate another incorporated not-for-profit Community Group, Organisation or Club which is willing to manage the grant funds (‘auspice the grant’) on their behalf. A letter will be required from your auspice organisation confirming their wiliness to accept the auspice role.
- Applications can only eligible for one Australia Day Grant per year.
- Event / acknowledgement ceremony is to include an Acknowledgment of Country / and or Welcome to Country.
- Event / acknowledgment is not to be promoted as a day of celebration, but as a day of acknowledgement.
Ineligible
What will NOT be funded:
- Applications received after the closing date.
- Applications for events / acknowledgment ceremony that will not take place between 25 and 27 January 2023.
- Applicants who have previously been funded by Council and have failed to comply with the financial and reporting requirements.
- Applications will not be accepted from or on behalf of individuals.
- Groups/Organisations that operate for profit.
- Groups/Organisations that have received funding from another Council funding scheme for the same event / acknowledgment ceremony.
- Fundraising activities.
- Politically based organisations or an event / acknowledgment ceremony with a political message.
- Groups or organisations who are in debt with Council.
- Prize money.
- Groups that receive direct income from electronic gaming machines.
