The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications for funding under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 to help support women in correctional leadership by providing web-based training modules designed for women in mid, senior, and executive levels.
Goals
The successful applicant will be required to update the current lesson plan for the two topic areas: Communicating as a Leader and Leading & Managing Organizational Change, and convert them each to 60-minute interactive virtual instructor led training (VILT) lessons. Each topical area should be developed for the two target audiences, generating a total of four training pilots that will be delivered within the course of this award.
Objectives
The successful applicant(s) must:
- Briefly articulate an understanding of how women lead and think, as it relates to the two competency areas mentioned in this proposal.
- Address the challenges in these two component areas that women encounter while working in corrections.
- Demonstrate the skills or contract with a technologically savvy SME as articulated in the Deliverables.
- Demonstrate the skills or contract with an individual capable of curriculum update and VILT design.
- Contract and train a minimum of two NIC approved SMEs to present the lessons, and at least one of the SMEs must be a woman who has served in the correctional field at the level of Warden or above.
Funding Information
- NIC expects to make one award for as much as $90,000 for a 12-month project period.
Eligibility Criteria
- NIC invites applications from nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations), for-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education). Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services.
- NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as sub recipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program.
- NIC may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations.
