The Hilden Charitable Fund is seeking applications to address disadvantages, notably by supporting causes which are less likely to raise funds from public subscriptions or statutory sources.
Funding Information
- You can apply for any amount up to a maximum of £5,000 per year and for up to two years (i.e. maximum £10,000 in total).
What they fund?
- Your project must meet at least one of the priorities below:
- Projects which support access to education for women and girls (please note – they will not fund individual bursaries or scholarships)
- Projects which enable rural and/or displaced communities to become more self-sufficient
Eligibility Criteria
- The priority is to fund organisations based in Malawi and, as such, you must be currently registered as an NGO, CBO or Youth Organisation there.
- If you are a Malawi organisation you must be:
- Registered with one of the following and able to provide a current registration certificate:
- The NGO Regulatory Authority (NGORA)
- If a CBO, registered by the Ministry of Gender, Women & Child Development
- If a Youth Organisation, registered with the National Youth Council
- Have an annual income (as shown in your most recent accounts) of no more than £250,000 (approximately $300,000)
- Have been operating for at least one full year and able to provide accounts for at least one full year
- Have at least four trustees/board members. Trustees/Directors should not be related to each other or to any employees of the organisation
- Be able to provide the name and contact details of a previous or current funder who they can contact for a reference
- Have a bank account in the organisation’s name and that can accept $USD (grant payments will be made in $USD only)
- Registered with one of the following and able to provide a current registration certificate:
- If you are a UK-registered organisation your work in Malawi must be governed and delivered by local people. You must also be one of the following:
- Registered Charity
- Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)
- Community Interest Company (CIC) (NB must be limited by guarantee, not by shares)
- Charitable Company (NB you must be registered both as a charity and a company)
Ineligibility Criteria
- You cannot apply if you had 2-year funding from them in 2024, but you can apply if you had just one-year funding from them in 2024, or were declined.
- They do not fund individuals, only charitable organisations.
