Deadline: 1 August 2018
The U.S. Embassy is seeking proposals that will develop Urban Youth Resilience by achieving the following program objectives:
- Helping urban youth to develop life skills and a sense of hope, optimism, and belonging;
- Providing social, leadership, and economic skills needed for success in the modern workforce;
- Encouraging inter-ethnic dialogue and understanding; and
- Encouraging community involvement in resilience-building activities.
The program should include after-school activities over a one to two year period for young people 14-18 years old. The proposed activity or activities should be creative and engaging; these may include, but are not limited to: arts and dance, debate clubs, entrepreneurship and business training, hip hop and DJ collaborations, comic books and graphic design, or innovation-focused programs. All successful proposals must include an aspect that builds community networks across sectors (ie: parents, teachers, police, religious and local officials) and, specifically, community involvement in the program.
The program should include a train-the-trainer aspect to teach directors of the youth community center how to be a trusted adult and guide positive decision-making. Applicants can assume that a venue will be provided free-of-charge, but should include any special equipment requirements in the budget.
The program timeline will be developed in coordination with U.S. Embassy Skopje.
Proposals must demonstrate a commitment towards the support and inclusion of marginalized communities (including disability status, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, whether they live in a rural or urban setting, etc.). Proposals from U.S. institutions should identify potential local sub-grantees.
