The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism is currently accepting applications for its 2016 Asfari Fellowship with an aim to develop their academic understanding of the media industry, improve their knowledge and focus on an in-depth piece of research.
The Journalism Fellowship Programme support talented mid-career journalists from around the world whose professional work would be enhanced by a period of reflection, research and intellectual exchange with other journalists in Oxford.
Benefits
- The Asfari journalist fellows spend one or two terms (three or six months) in Oxford based at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, where they join a diverse group of journalists from other parts of the world.
- The fellows attend regular seminars each week and occasional special lectures relating to journalism, and they are encouraged to attend other academic and social events at Oxford University.
- All Institute and University/College fees will be paid by the Fellowship, and the fellows will also receive their travel costs and a modest stipend to cover housing and living expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
- Journalists from Lebanon, Palestine and Syria are eligible.
- Applicants must have a minimum of five years experience working as a journalist in any specialism.
- Applicants will be able to demonstrate a level of English that allows you to participate fully in the programme and write a research paper of publishable quality.
- Applicants must be given priority if you’re proposing a research project within one of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism’s areas of focus.
