Deadline: 27-Nov-22
Internews’ Earth Journalism Network invites journalists from India to apply for a media workshop on covering pathways to Net Zero, to be held in Kolkata from February 1-3, 2023.
This three-day workshop will help journalists in India improve their understanding of Net Zero, and learn how to report more effectively on their countries policies and actions to meet its climate goals.
The Workshop
- This workshop is part of EJN’s Pathways to Net Zero in India and South Africa project. EJN will bear the travel, accommodation, and meal costs of selected participants.
- During the workshop, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the concept of Net Zero and will learn about India’s progress towards this goal.
- Selected participants will engage in a combination of classroom-style study and go on a field visit (details TBC). They will have the opportunity to learn from thematic experts and hear from affected communities. In addition to these on-ground experiences, participants will engage in hands-on capacity-building sessions to develop their journalism skills.
Eligibility Criteria
- The workshop is open to journalists from India.
- Self-motivated journalists interested in covering the transition to Net Zero are invited to apply. They are especially eager to hear from journalists reporting on business, finance and tech perspectives, or those closely covering the country’s emission-reduction policies.
- They welcome applications from journalists from print, television, online and/or radio, with a demonstrated track record of producing incisive, in-depth stories.
- Please note:
- Selected participants must commit to attending all three days of the workshop from February 1-3, 2023.
- EJN and their partners and donors have the right to edit, publish, broadcast and distribute any stories produced as a result of journalists’ participation in the workshop, once they have been published or broadcast in the original media outlet.
Criteria
- Applicants must provide a letter from their editor or media outlet supporting their application. Freelance journalists are welcome to apply but will need a letter of support from a media organization committing to publish or broadcast their stories.
- Applicants must submit two published writing samples or links to stories that have appeared online. Story clips related to climate, clean mobility and energy issues are welcome.
