Applications Open for 3rd Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2017!

Deadline: 17 July 2017

Applications are open for 3rd Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2017 which is a participatory event bringing together activists, women human rights defenders, academics, lawyers, and global allies. The forum will facilitate the sharing of tools and resources, provide space for advocacy, strengthen capacities and invite people to collectively strategise to build power in the era of authoritarian, patriarchal, late capitalism.

Feminists from Asia Pacific join APWLD members and allies to strengthen movements, solidarity and resolve to dismantle economic, social and political systems that produce obscene levels of inequality, drive climate change and necessitate violations of women’s human rights.

The 3rd Asia Pacific Feminist Forum is being organized by Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law & Development (APWLD).

Workshop and Objectives

The program hopes workshops will contribute to the following:

  • Creating Alternative Visions: We know that patriarchy globalised corporate capitalism, militarism, fundamentalisms must be disbanded but can we clearly articulate our alternatives? What would a Feminist, Fossil-Fuel Free, Future look like? What structures and policies should we build to create Development Justice?
  • How do we get there: From global strikes to creative disruption, we need to strategise in ways that go beyond existing advocacy. What forms of solidarity and care can transform the inequitable structures women endure and deliver justice?

Workshops are required to contribute to the following objectives:

  • Strengthen the capacities that movements need
  • Provide tools or resources that movements need
  • Provide space for advocacy
  • Strengthen collective action or movement architecture

Workshops are also expected to consider the following:

  • Accessibility
