The ‘Pitch-Up’ Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, is a grant under the Maldives: Enhancing Employability and Resilience of Youth (MEERY) project, financed by the World Bank and being implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Ministry of Economic Development.
The purpose of the ‘Pitch-Up’ is to stimulate entrepreneurship among the youths. The competition will support and boost entrepreneurs and their businesses and also encourage young entrepreneurs to innovate feasible, profitable and sustainable solutions.
This competition will foster a culture of informed risk taking through innovation and entrepreneurship, and inculcate valuable skills through a boot camp that will train youth and women entrepreneurs and innovators on essentials of innovation commercialization, building robust business models, and establishing and running successful businesses especially involving innovative technologies.
The Pitch-up competition welcomes proposals in the fields of:
- Information and Communication Technologies
- Tourism
- Tourism Related Construction
- Agriculture
Award Information
Depending on your idea/proposal, you will be awarded a sum between $10,000 to $40,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- Youth between 18 and 35 years of age (The applicant must meet the age category requirement by the announcement date/time).
- MEERY is welcoming participants from across the country. The only condition is that the business should be based in Maldives! The target market could include parties from abroad.
- The funding under this competition is targeted to encourage new start-ups.
- All stages of the competition, including the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp are to be conducted virtually in hopes of increasing accessibility.
