Do you have an idea that could help improve the biosecurity system? The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is inviting you to work with them under the Biosecurity Innovation Program (BIP).
The Biosecurity Innovation Program (BIP) funds innovative ideas to enhance the biosecurity system.
The BIP invests in new technologies and approaches. It identifies and develops new products and services to manage biosecurity challenges and risks.
Through the BIP
- identify and develop innovative entrepreneurial ideas
- fund projects that explore new concepts and ideas for managing biosecurity risk
- collaborate with the business sector, universities and research entities.
Focus Areas

The program will provide funding and support for projects that focus on the 5 key focus areas:
- Automation: Automating biosecurity activity processes can increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Data and Intelligence: Improve data accessibility to inform biosecurity decision-making.
- Risk Analysis: Inform and enhance the risk-based approach to biosecurity risk management.
- Surveillance, Diagnostics and Screening: Inform and enhance the risk-based approach to biosecurity risk management.
- Communication and Collaboration: Improve communication and collaboration across the biosecurity system. They do this to enhance system participants understanding, awareness and acceptance of biosecurity requirements:

Eligibility Criteria
- This BIP is open to everyone, government employees, industry participants and stakeholders. Individuals or organisations can apply. If you have more than one idea, you can submit more than one EOI.
- The BIP provides funding and support. They’ll help you develop your idea within a project.
