Deadline: 17-Sep-2025
The UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (UK PACT) programme has launched a new funding opportunity within the Mexico Country Fund focused on Climate Policy, Green Finance, and AFOLU (Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use).
This call is designed to support projects that drive low-carbon transition efforts in line with Mexico’s climate goals and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
The programme seeks proposals that strengthen legislative and planning instruments, introduce green procurement standards, or promote landscape-level transformation. By advancing climate policy, unlocking green investment, and transforming land use systems, this initiative aims to tackle key mitigation challenges while building greater resilience in communities and ecosystems.
Eligible projects should align with one of three core intervention areas: advancing Mexico’s NDC implementation through effective policy frameworks, supporting green finance through sustainable budgeting and incentives, or enabling climate-smart actions in agriculture, livestock, and forest sectors. Applicants may apply in one or more of these intervention areas, but only once per area. Each proposal will be assessed independently, with funding available up to £500,000 per year.
The selection process will take place in two stages. In the first stage, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest describing their organisation and citing a successfully completed project in the relevant intervention area. Following eligibility and capability assessments, short-listed applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal, including clear outputs for the first year and a demonstration of how they will deliver tangible results and impact within that timeframe.
Projects should be designed for 12 to 24 months, beginning from March 2026 onward, and no later than March 2028. All proposals must show how they will achieve meaningful impact within the first year, even if activities extend over two years. For longer projects, applicants should also outline how the work will evolve beyond the first year, while remaining adaptable. Grants will initially run to March 2027, with continuation dependent on performance evaluations conducted annually.
Both for-profit and non-profit organisations are eligible to apply, either individually or as part of a consortium. All consortia must include at least one local partner operating legally in Mexico, such as NGOs, community groups, or businesses of any size. Government agencies and departments are not eligible to apply as lead applicants or partners. Proposals will be judged on cost-effectiveness, project management capacity, technical expertise, and their impact on gender equality, disability, and social inclusion.
Projects must be delivered on a not-for-profit basis. Eligible costs include staff and consultancy time, reasonable travel and subsistence, as well as activity-related expenses such as workshops, seminars, report production, and translation.
This call presents an exceptional opportunity for organisations to play a leading role in Mexico’s climate transition—shaping policy, mobilising green finance, and enabling sustainable land use systems that benefit both people and the environment.
