Canadian agri-tech/food-tech/sustainability-tech startups are invited to submit an application to have a chance to pitch/demo their business or technology to win a $45,000 first-place cash price, $5,000 runner-up cash prize, and/or free Access Membership to Bioenterprise for a year.
Applications will be scored on the problem or opportunity they are addressing, their unique solution, their team experience, and the overall sustainability impact to the agriculture, food, and drink sector in Canada.
The Dairy Farmers of Canada National Sustainability Challenge (the “Challenge”) is organised by Bioenterprise Canada Corporation (“Bioenterprise Canada”), in consultation with Dairy Farmers of Canada (“DFC”), the title sponsor, and collectively referred to as “the Organizers”.
The 10 highest scoring applications will be selected to participate in a virtual event where they will pitch their business and/or demo their technology to a panel of experts who will ultimately determine the winner and runner up.
Funding Information
- The Green Pursuit is a national business pitch competition that will provide a $45,000 cash prize to the winner and a $5,000 cash prize to the runner up.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be:
- Canadian incorporated and headquartered for-profit business
- Majority owner(s) (51% or more) of the company plan to work full-time within the business
- Minimum Technology Readiness Level 4+ (Component and/or validation in a laboratory environment – basic technological components are integrated to establish that they will work together)
- Operating in agriculture or food & beverage sectors and provide a benefit to or solve a sustainability problem for the broader agriculture and/or food & beverage producer sectors in Canada
- Specific areas of focus are: Carbon Footprint, Regenerative Agriculture, Biodiversity, Energy, Plastics
- If revenue generating – trailing 12 months revenue must not exceed $250,000
- Must have 5 or fewer FTE employees
