Consumer Assessment in relation to Consumption of Animal Source Foods Program in Mozambique

BIRAC announces Special Call for Proposals under SBIRI Scheme in India

Deadline: 13-Feb-2022

The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is inviting proposals for the Consumer Assessment in relation to Consumption of Animal Source Foods Program.

GAIN’s programme will simultaneously promote consumption of ASF and incentivise the increase of availability of ASF products.

Consumer focused interventions will leverage existing preferences and motivators to increase frequency of ASF consumption. Supply activities will promote the supply of affordable and nutrient dens ASF options to peri urban and rural consumers.

Objectives

The assessment has two key objectives:

  • Identification of consumer usage patterns and buying patterns of ASF (esp. fish, poultry, and eggs)
  • Identify perceptions, beliefs, and motivators related to the consumption of ASF (e.g., values, symbols, attributed to these foods)
Deliverables
  • Workplan
  • Field data collection plan, including desk review, insights from preliminary FGDs, and final discussion guides for IDIs (including ethical clearance)
  • Draft report (describing consumer purchase and consumption patterns and potential scenarios and messages for increasing ASF consumption) and presentation of results
  • Validation and “idea generation” workshop where results are discussed with stakeholder’s teams (demand creation and supply chains) to clarify entry points
  • Final report, including GAIN feedback and outcomes of validation workshop
