The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the proposals under the project “European Union Support to Agricultural Competitiveness and Rural Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina” (EU4AGRI), a four-year project (2020-2024) that aims to modernize the agri-food sector and improve the rural economy by increasing the competitiveness of agricultural production, jobs and services.
The project is implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and the Czech Development Agency (CzDA).
Objectives
- The general goal of this support measure is to strengthen consulting services in BiH through financial support to legal entities that offer consulting services and education / training in the field of business planning, preparation of project proposals for funding and applications for public calls in the agri-food sector. wider availability of these services to end users (agricultural producers and agri-food companies), as well as better quality of services provided .
- The realization of this measure is expected to achieve specific goals:
- Capacity development of private service providers in the field of business planning and consulting,
- Encouraging cooperation of agricultural producers, food processors, residents of rural areas with business planning service providers,
- Improving access to agricultural producers, food processors and the population of rural areas with available investment funds,
- Development of the consulting services market in BiH,
- Adaptation of the agricultural sector in BiH to EU legislation and standards.
Areas
Support to the agri-food sector will be provided through public calls for support in three areas:
- investment in primary production and processing capacities in order to strengthen market efficiency,
- strengthening consulting services to improve knowledge and develop skills, and
- strengthening and diversifying the rural economy.
Funding Information
The total value of the project is 20.25 million euros and it is financed by the European Union with 20 million euros, and UNDP and CzDA with 250,000 euros.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible applicants are legal entities that provide training services in the field of business consulting in the agricultural sector, preparation of project proposals and business plans, and which are registered in the following organizational forms:
- Citizens’ associations / non-governmental organizations,
- Companies.
- Applicants must:
- be based in BiH,
- be registered as a company / association of citizens no later than 24 months before the publication of this public call,
- have demonstrable experience in conducting education and consulting in the field of business planning in the agri-food sector (minimum of three successfully implemented education programs in the agri-food sector)
- at least one full-time employee working on consulting / training of members / clients in the areas of business consulting, business management, preparation of applications and projects, preparation of business plans, etc.,
- for the purposes of this Public Call, a Project Team has been formed, consisting of a minimum of three members: a project leader and two trainers, where one coach must be a permanent employee of the applicant.
