Applications Open for East Asia Summit Hackathon on Combatting Marine Plastic

Teams of talented software developers and tech enthusiasts from across the region are invited to take part in the East Asia Summit (EAS) Hackathon on Combatting Marine Plastic, to be held 13-16 December 2022 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The Asia Foundation is teaming up with the ASEAN Foundation, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), and the governments of Australia, India, and Singapore to host the East Asia Summit (EAS) Hackathon on Combatting Marine Plastic.The hackathon is calling for applicants aged 18-25 from across the Asia-Pacific to take part in creating innovative digital solutions to address plastic pollution.

Objectives

The objective of the Hackathon is to promote participation of youth from EAS countries in creating digital solutions to address one of the specific marine plastic challenges below (choose one):

The Asia Foundation is a nonprofit international development organization committed to improving lives across a dynamic and developing Asia. Informed by six decades of experience and deep local expertise, their work across the region is focused on good governance, women’s empowerment and gender equality, inclusive economic growth, environment and climate action, and regional and international relations.

On December 13 in Jakarta, Indonesia, teams of talented software developers and tech enthusiasts from across the region will be invited to take part in the three-day hackathon.
