Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot Large Grants

Call for Proposals: Latin America Regional Program

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) and Burung Indonesia, as regional implementation team for the hotspot (RIT), are accepting letters of inquiry (LOIs) from non-government organizations, community groups, Indigenous people’s organizations, women’s groups, private companies and other civil society organizations in relation to the eligible activities and geographies.

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is a joint initiative of l’Agence Française de Développement, Conservation International, the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan and the World Bank. Private U.S.-based philanthropic donors have contributed to the fund with a focus on Indonesian Wallacea. A fundamental goal is to ensure civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation.

Eligible Activities

The scope of this call is strictly limited.

CEPF will award a single grant to an organization capable of training other nongovernment organizations, community groups and associations in:

The work will be targeted at existing and potential CEPF partner grantees and the locations in which they work.

Proposals should not be about implementing work directly or about establishing pilot projects. The expected output is the increased capacity of these other entities managing small-scale fisheries.

Eligible Geographic Areas

CEPF focuses its work on conservation outcomes, seeking to protect species, sites and corridors. The core of this work is around Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs), which are the refuges of globally threatened species and around which larger corridors are based of the ecosystem profile lists all species, KBAs and corridors in the region the priority species, KBAs and corridors.

Ongoing and potential CEPF partners are working in these geographies. Training is expected to take place in these areas, or within the Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot, but is not strictly required.

If you represent a government-owned enterprise or institution, you are eligible only if you can establish that the enterprise or institution:

The only groups eligible for funding are Indonesian civil society organizations. This does not include international organizations with locally registered offices.
