Deadline: 19-Jan-2026
The Ireland’s EU Presidency Culture Programme is inviting Expressions of Interest from artists and cultural organisations interested in developing international projects that highlight Ireland’s creative work and strengthen cultural collaboration.
As Ireland prepares to take up the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2026, this programme will serve as a key platform to showcase Irish artistic talent, deepen cultural partnerships and engage European audiences in shared cultural experiences.
The programme encourages proposals that are collaborative, outward-looking and capable of building lasting connections. Projects may involve partnerships with venues, festivals, cultural institutions, creative networks or community-based organisations across Europe. The aim is to support work that demonstrates artistic ambition, cultural relevance and the potential to create meaningful exchange and dialogue. Projects can span a wide range of art forms, from visual and performing arts to literature, music, film and interdisciplinary collaborations.
To ensure strong alignment with cultural priorities, several basic eligibility requirements apply. Applications must be made on behalf of an Irish professional artist or arts organisation and must relate to an art form recognised under the Arts Act 2003. Only international events are eligible, meaning the work must take place outside the island of Ireland. Events must be accessible to the public, well promoted, and ensure that professional fees are paid to participating artists or organisations. Culture Ireland emphasises equality, diversity and inclusion, so applicants are expected to reflect these values in both planning and delivery. Sustainability considerations should also be integrated throughout the project.
Eligible applications are assessed according to the artistic quality and track record of the artists involved, the operational and financial feasibility of the project, and the profile of the host venue or festival. The selection process also considers the applicant’s capacity to deliver work internationally and the potential promotional impact of the event. Strong proposals will demonstrate clear cultural relevance, strategic collaboration and the ability to raise the international visibility of Irish arts.
Through this call, cultural practitioners have the opportunity to contribute to a significant cultural moment on the European stage. The programme offers not only financial support but also meaningful international exposure and the chance to strengthen Ireland’s cultural ties across Europe in 2026 and beyond.
