Deadline: 01-Sep-2025
Pro Helvetia announces its Creation and Production Grant Program supporting new musical works such as new repertoire, recorded music productions, and musical performances. The maximum funding available is CHF 25,000.
Eligible projects must have a clear connection to Switzerland and be of nationwide importance. They also need to be adequately co-funded by other public or private means and guarantee fair working conditions.
Eligible applicants include nationally established music professionals and bands from Switzerland active in genres like pop, rock, jazz, electronic, experimental, global sounds, and hip-hop. A connection to Switzerland is confirmed if the project is developed or implemented by Swiss citizens or permanent residents regularly active in Swiss artistic events, or by independent groups or institutions based and publicly active in Switzerland.
Projects of nationwide relevance involve practitioners regularly participating in nationally recognized Swiss cultural programs beyond their own region or abroad, show exceptional artistic potential, contribute significantly to Swiss artistic production, or foster exchange between Switzerland’s linguistic regions.
Pro Helvetia does not fund projects already supported by other federal bodies, projects part of academic programs or training, infrastructure or facility operating costs, or projects not reliant on Pro Helvetia funding.
Applications are assessed based on independence, professional competence, social and thematic relevance, professional implementation, cost-effectiveness, and expected lasting impact. The Foundation values commitment to diversity, ecological responsibility, and sustainable planning.
Selection favors music professionals recognized nationwide who regularly perform at prominent venues in Switzerland and abroad. Priority is given to those previously supported by Pro Helvetia, working with industry professionals, receiving appropriate fees, and securing other financial support. Artistic relevance, venue quality, number of performances, and promotion potential are also important.
Applications must include a project description covering concept, implementation, and demo, plus an international promotion strategy. Details about individuals involved and possibly the label should be provided. A schedule for creation, production, and promotion phases is required. For recorded music, a strong promotion and distribution plan must be included. A detailed budget for creation and production (including social security contributions), recorded music production, and a financing plan with inquiries to other funders and co-producers must accompany the application.
