Deadline: 29-Aug-2025
The Finnish Cultural Foundation is accepting applications for its Artists’ Residencies Grant Programme to support international artists’ residency programmes each year.
In the August application round, artists can apply for grants for international work through two different forms of support: a period of work that includes a working grant at one of the residencies offered by the Cultural Foundation, or a mobility grant for residencies organized by artists themselves or for other international work.
Residency grant recipients are awarded a working grant and a travel grant. If the grantee receives a smaller third-party working grant during the residency period, the grantee will be awarded the difference between the two grants. The grantees themselves are responsible for any visas, residence permits, or insurance possibly required for the period abroad. It is possible to bring a spouse or family with you to those destinations. Family members’ travel expenses must be covered by the artists themselves.
Long-term residencies include a Cultural Foundation working grant for the duration of the residency. The residency grant includes accommodation organized by the residency. The travel grant amount for air travel is standard: for Europe excluding Estonia, 500 euros per person; for other continents, 1,000 euros per person. It is possible to apply for a supplementary travel grant if you travel without flying by public transport or by cargo ship, with planned method of travel and estimated costs included in the application form. For Estonia, the travel grant amount is a maximum of 300 euros per person, regardless of the mode of travel. The method of travel must be confirmed when accepting the residency.
Short-term residencies at Kanuti Gildi SAAL have a length of two or three weeks, and the grant amount is 750 euros per week per person. The maximum size of the working group is six people, and the grant can be applied for a member of the group who takes part in the residency for its entire duration. The exact date of the residency will be agreed upon with Kanuti Gildi SAAL after the selection process. The residency does not include pre-arranged accommodation, but the grant recipient arranges their working group’s accommodation in Tallinn independently. An expenditure grant for accommodation and travel expenses can be applied for using the application form. Applications close at 29 August, 4 pm Finnish time (EET) on the last day of the application period.
