Connecting through Culture Art Procurement Project (Canada)

Funding Opportunity: Strengthening Health, Education & Women’s Rights

Deadline: 19-Sep-2025

Creative Gros Morne (CGM) is inviting artists, groups of artists, and organizations across cultural sectors to apply for the Connecting through Culture project, designed to foster creativity and strengthen cultural connections within and beyond the Gros Morne region.

The goals of the Connecting through Culture project are to connect people, place, and community through culture and art, to create lasting works across a range of mediums that positively impact Gros Morne National Park and beyond, to showcase the unique aspects of Gros Morne National Park with the intention of generating interest and attracting visitors in future years, and to generate awareness about the strong creative community in Gros Morne while building its profile as a centre of cultural activity and innovation.

The program welcomes applications from individuals, organizations, ad-hoc groups, cultural committees, partnerships, cooperatives, or joint ventures based in Newfoundland and Labrador. Eligible activities include performing arts, literary arts, visual arts, interdisciplinary arts, crafts, film and digital media, culinary arts, and more. While participation is open across the province, preference may be given to proponents located in or with a demonstrated connection to the Gros Morne region.

Applicants must submit their proposals by September 19, 2025, with successful proponents beginning work on or after September 30, 2025. Completed projects are expected by May 31, 2026. Eligible project ideas range from live performances, culinary demonstrations, and creation of crafts to virtual tours, written pieces, and participatory cultural experiences. Proposals must clearly align with the theme of Connecting through Culture, which may include reflecting traditions of Newfoundland and Labrador, showcasing landscapes, sharing stories, or preserving heritage.

Eligible costs include professional fees, materials, equipment rental, production and presentation costs, transportation, and limited marketing and software-related expenses. Normally, support will not exceed $5,000, with payments disbursed in two installments: 50% upfront and 50% upon project completion.

Proposals will be evaluated on artistic merit, connection to the project theme, reflection of Gros Morne’s unique cultural and natural heritage, the proponent’s experience and capacity, and the completeness of the proposal. The evaluation also emphasizes community connection and contribution.

Creative Gros Morne, a division of the Gros Morne Co-operating Association, is committed to sustaining and growing cultural activity in the region through initiatives such as this program, guided by the Gros Morne Cultural Blueprint.
