Entries open for Nature Canada’s Annual Nature Photo Contest

Deadline: 10-Aug-2025

Nature Canada is now accepting entries for its Annual Nature Photo Contest, aimed at encouraging Canadians to get outside and experience the natural world during the summer. The contest celebrates the plants, animals, landscapes, and special nature moments that bring joy and inspiration to people across the country.

Photographers from across Canada are invited to submit their work for a chance to win prizes and have their images featured in the Nature Canada 2025 Calendar. The top prize includes a gift certificate worth approximately $1,895 for a Black Feather guided wilderness trip in 2026, such as a sea kayak or canoe expedition depending on the available trip schedule.

To enter the contest or win a prize, participants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents. Employees of Nature Canada and their immediate families are not eligible. All submitted photos must be taken in Canada. Participation implies agreement with the contest’s rules and the final decisions of the sponsor.

Digital photographs must remain true to the original shot. Only minor edits such as cropping, tonal or color corrections, and black-and-white conversions are allowed. High-resolution files must be available for selected winners. These should be 3600 x 2700 pixels at 300 dpi, saved in uncompressed TIFF or high-quality JPEG format. Winners who fail to provide the required file within the specified time (no more than one week after notification) will lose their prize, and an alternate winner will be chosen.

Entries can be submitted online through the Photo Contest Facebook event page. Each submission must include the hashtag #NCPhotoContest25, the participant’s identification (Amateur, Professional, or Youth), the category of entry, and a description of the photo.

Print entries are also accepted by mail. The address is 240 Bank Street, Suite 300, Ottawa, ON, K2P 1X4. Mailed entries should be at least 11 x 14 inches in size or 3300 x 4200 pixels. Participants must include their name, contact information, self-identification, category, and a description of the photo. Winners who submit by mail must also provide a high-resolution digital version of their photo if selected.
