Office for Fine Arts Project Fund for Institutions in Germany

Australia: Public Art and Design Grant Program

Deadline: 15-Oct-2025

The Office for Fine Arts has opened applications for its grant program supporting German institutions that promote the work of French or French-based visual artists.

This initiative aims to strengthen cultural exchange between France and Germany by helping bring contemporary French art to German audiences through exhibitions and collaborative projects.

The program focuses on projects organized by nationally or internationally recognized institutions, with priority given to monographic exhibitions featuring emerging artists. Galleries hosting their first exhibition of a French or French-based artist are especially encouraged to apply. Only exhibitions by living, active artists are eligible, as the program does not provide funding for projects related to deceased artists.

Eligible expenses under the program include a wide range of logistical and operational costs essential to mounting exhibitions. These may cover international and national travel, transportation and insurance, taxes and permits, artist and technical fees, accommodation, daily allowances, technical rentals, materials, communication and publication expenses, and administrative costs. However, production and reception expenses fall outside the scope of this funding.

Applicants must be legally registered entities, such as non-profit organizations, public institutions, or companies. Freelancers are not eligible to apply. The program supports projects with grants ranging from €1,000 to €5,000, and the awarded amount will depend on the number of eligible applications received throughout the year. Importantly, funding may cover up to 50% of the total project budget, ensuring that applicants demonstrate additional financial commitment or partnership funding.

By supporting exhibitions that highlight the diversity and creativity of French contemporary art, the Office for Fine Arts continues to nurture cross-cultural dialogue and artistic collaboration between Germany and France, enriching the European art scene and creating new opportunities for emerging talents.
