Culturgest – Fundação Caixa Geral de Depósitos is calling on artists, companies, and collectives based in Portugal to submit proposals for large-scale performing arts projects premiering in 2027 or 2028. This opportunity is part of the Scaling Up program, which supports ambitious theatrical and choreographic productions that challenge conventional formats and contribute to the renewal of the performing arts scene in Portugal. Culturgest values diversity and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
Eligible projects must have budgets exceeding €100,000, feature at least eight performers on stage, and involve a team of at least 20 people. Applicants must have previously created at least four original works and plan for venues with a minimum 400-seat capacity. The program accepts various genres, including theatre, dance, performance, musical theatre, and contemporary opera.
Selection will occur in two phases: an initial dossier review by November 14, 2025, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates. Applications must include a detailed proposal, company background, video links, cast and collaborators, co-producers, budget, and project schedule.
