“Local Creator Residency Program” aims to invite distinguished and highly motivated Japan-based creators in the field of visual art, film, design, architecture, and to give opportunities to work in Tokyo.

For the period from May to July 2024, two Japan-based creators who would engage in creative activities based on the theme “Beyond Divisions.” Together with two creators of “International Creator Residency Program (Theme Projects),” the 4 creators who work on the theme will seek to actively exchange ideas on the cultural differences in thoughts, recognitions, actions and languages, while working independently on their own projects. The result of their residency will be presented at the Open Studio and Result Exhibition.

This time, two creators living in Japan who are active in the fields of visual art, film/film, design, and architecture, and will be in residence from May to July 2024 under the theme of “Beyond Divisions. They are looking for These two groups will engage in dialogue and discussion with the two creators participating in the Overseas Creators Invitation Program, who will be working on the same theme during the same period. , will be announced at the residency exhibition held at TOKAS Hongo the following year.

At the TOKAS Residency, artists with various backgrounds will create works centered on Tokyo or Japan. In the process of creating, actively exchanging opinions on cultural differences such as thoughts, perceptions, actions and languages, and creating works. For this purpose, from May to July 2024, they are looking for creators who will work in residence under this theme. They hope that in Tokyo, a city where diverse identities intersect, each of them will have an opportunity to consider the own creative themes from multiple perspectives through the framework of overcoming divisions.
