#grants_for_artists

Deadline: 15-Sep-2025

The Professional Project Grants Program (PPGP) offers funding to individual professional artists, collaborations, professional arts groups, and project-based not-for-profit arts organizations. It supports the creation and presentation of work in various artistic disciplines including adaptation, dance, film, music, multidisciplinary arts, theatre, visual arts, and writing.

Grants can be used to cover project expenses such as creation, production, administration, travel, and professional development. The program includes three categories: new professional artists or groups with less than three years of experience; established professional artists or groups with more than three years of experience; and project-based not-for-profit arts organizations.

A total of $1.7 million is awarded annually through PPGP, with $850,000 available for each grant session across all art forms. New professional artists or groups can request up to $6,000. Established artists or groups and not-for-profit organizations can each request a maximum of $15,000.

Each applicant can receive one grant from either the PPGP or the Creation Grant Program within a 12-month period. To be eligible, individual artists must be at least 18 years old or hold post-secondary standing and have lived in Newfoundland and Labrador for at least 12 consecutive months prior to applying.

Professional arts groups must have been active in Newfoundland and Labrador for at least one year and have conducted professional arts activities in the past year. At least half of the group’s members must be 18 or older, or have post-secondary standing.

Only one application per artist, group, or organization will be accepted per deadline. Late or incomplete applications and retroactive funding requests will not be considered.
