Applications are now open for the Promotion of Linguistic Duality Component and the Bilingual Services Subcomponent Program. These initiatives aim to strengthen the understanding and appreciation of Canada’s two official languages, English and French.
The Promotion of Linguistic Duality component supports organizations from various sectors in carrying out activities that highlight the cultural and linguistic value of bilingualism. It also encourages the delivery of services in both official languages and helps non-governmental organizations build operational bilingual capacity.
The Promotion of Bilingual Services subcomponent focuses on helping non-governmental and volunteer organizations offer services in both languages. It supports innovative projects that develop bilingual service models, promote the advantages of offering services in English and French, and share successful practices with other organizations.
Funding can cover up to 100% of eligible expenses. For grants, the maximum funding is $300,000 per fiscal year, while for contributions, it can go up to $5 million. If an organization receives $250,000 or more through contributions, an audited financial report is required.
Eligible projects must introduce new and innovative activities, such as the development of best practices or responses to emerging issues, and should not require continued funding. Preference will be given to proposals aligned with the Official Languages mandate and those that support reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples through the Development of Official-Language Communities program.
The expected results for both components include enhanced use of official languages, services offered in English and French within non-governmental organizations, and initiatives that foster connection among Canadians while promoting the French language and culture.
To be eligible, applicants must be Canadian non-profit organizations, associations, or institutions. Individuals and government bodies are not eligible for funding under this program.
