Apply for New and Emerging Events Program in Canada

Funding Opportunity: Strengthening Health, Education & Women’s Rights

Deadline: 30-Nov-2025

The New Events (Emerging) Program supports organizations that create or bring new events to the Halifax Regional Municipality, filling gaps in the existing event calendar and fostering opportunities for annual tourism-driven initiatives.

The focus areas include supporting new and emerging events that address gaps in the existing event calendar, developing events with the potential to become annual tourism events, and encouraging initiatives that increase tourism and business development during the “shoulder/off season” (November to April). The program prioritizes organizations that have operated for a minimum of one year with proven event management experience and have secured corporate or government funding support. Events must have a minimum budget of $50,000, and the maximum grant award available is $30,000.

The New Events (Emerging) Program provides two intakes per year and offers sustainable funding for up to five years. Eligible expenses include programming, operating, marketing, and promotional costs that directly support the development and delivery of the event. However, grants cannot be used for volunteer bursaries, honoraria, or payments made directly or indirectly to members or officers of an organization’s Board of Directors.

Through this initiative, Halifax aims to attract innovative and impactful events that strengthen its tourism sector, stimulate business development, and enhance the region’s reputation as a dynamic and engaging event destination.
