Unreasonable East Africa is accepting applications from companies based in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda to take part in their 2017 program, running between March-December 2017.
Unreasonable East Africa’s goal will be to get these companies into the best possible shape to grow.
The 2017 Unreasonable East Africa program will run between March-December 2017, with an intensive 5-week institute in August and September, 2017(dates tbd), bringing together 15 high potential companies (from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda), more than 50 high profile mentors and 20 investors, to live under the same roof in Kampala, Uganda.
Unreasonable East Africa gives an “unreasonable advantage” to entrepreneurs creating solutions to East Africa’s biggest social and environmental problems. These entrepreneurs aim to make an outsizes impact, often with a tiny amount of resources.
The lucky companies that are selected to attend this program will have the opportunity to build a clear and compelling growth strategy, raise the right financing, build the right teams and have a supportive community they will need to grow.
Eligibility Criteria
- Unreasonable East Africa works with for-profit, non-profit, and hybrid companies tackling social and environmental problems.
- Aside from being fueled by a drive to effectively address a social or environmental problem, an Unreasonable East Africa company must be located in Uganda, Kenya or Tanzania, have a full-time team of at least 2 people, have a prototype or pilot, and be able to prove that they have meaningfully engaged with their customers.
- The program also looks for companies that have generated revenue through the sale of their core product or service and are highly-scalable (capable of reaching at least 1 million people).
