Applications are open for FRIDA Awards to recognize innovative initiatives and practices in Latin America and the Caribbean that, from the field of information and communication technologies, have made a concrete contribution and with demonstrated impact to the social and economic development of the region.
Themes
Applications will be accepted in line with the themes of interest of the FRIDA program:
- Development of Internet. Innovative solutions for the development of an open, stable and secure Internet, including topics such as access, infrastructure, Internet of Things, IPv6, cybersecurity, open standards and internet governance.
- Internet and technologies for participation: Digital solutions for social inclusion, democratic strengthening and the exercise of rights and freedoms.
- Internet and technologies for the good of the communities. Digital solutions in health, education, economy, industry, environment, agriculture, among other areas, that contributes to the socioeconomic development of communities.
Award Information
The FRIDA Prize consists of a financial contribution of US $ 5,000 plus a trip and full stay for one representative of each winning project to attend the awards ceremony to be held at the Internet Governance Forum to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from the 18th to the 21 of December.
Criteria
- The winning initiatives will have 3 main features. In all cases the projects must have a technological component that has sought to respond to a development problem.
- The proposed solutions must be innovative , that is, present new strategies, concepts, ideas, methods and processes that respond to social needs and manage to expand and strengthen communities.
- Finally, initiatives will be rewarded with demonstrated impact , through indicators and evidence that prove the generation of value for the communities they seek to serve.
