The Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Korea and the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) has announced an open Call on ‘Fund for Korean Art Abroad 2019’ to assist Korean artists with extending their reach globally into the art market.
Funding Information
- Each exhibition can receive funds between 5-30 million KRW (approx. 4,400-26,500 USD).
Requirements for Grantee
Once selected, the Grantee and the Korean artist/partner must abide by the following
requirements:
- For Grantee(Int’l Organization)
- Conclude an MOU with KAMS.
- Conclude a Multi-Party Contract between KAMS and the Korean artist or Korean partner.
- Include the name and logo of ①the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Korea (MCST), ②the Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS), and ③the grant program (FKAA) on all promotional, public relations, and relevant print materials.
- Submit a final report up to one month after the end of the exhibition.
- ForKorean Artist/Korean Partner
- Conclude a Multi-Party Contract between KAMS and the Applicant.
- Submit a performance report within the financial year the exhibition took place. For example, if the exhibition occurs in 2019, the reportmust be submitted by December 2019.
- Both final report and performance report must be written in the format prescribed by KAMS. If sales incurred, information about the sold artworks must be included.
Eligibility Criteria
- International art organizations –both commercial and non-profit– that exhibit contemporary
artworks by inviting Korean artists and/or collaborating with Korean partners are eligible to apply. - Types of Eligible Exhibitions
- Exhibition where international organizations invite Korean artists
- Exhibitions featuring Korean artists curated by, or collaborating with, Korean partners
- Exhibitions featuring commissioned artworks in collaboration with Korean artists or Korea partners
- Restrictions- Applicants are ineligible to apply if:
- Their organization is represented by a Korean national.
- Their exhibition is operating as a bazaar or a fundraising event.
- The Korean artist or Korean partner is responsible, in any form of payment, for the rent of the exhibition space or utility costs, such as electricity or water.
- They are hosting an exhibition for which the Korean artist or Korean partner is already receiving funds from the Korean government, a Korean local government body, or a Korean public institution (e.g. Arts Council Korea, Korea Foundation).
