National Entrepreneurship Awards 2019 honouring Young Entrepreneurs and Eco-System Builders of India

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has launched its 4th edition of National Entrepreneurship Awards to honour young entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders for their outstanding efforts in entrepreneurship development.

This award seeks to instill and entrench the entrepreneurial attitude among the future generations and the Youth of India.

A total of 45 Awards under NEA 2019 has been carefully considered to enable participation of young achievers below the age of 40 years and their ecosystem builders across sectors, geographies, and socio-economic background through the process of nomination.

Winners will receive a Trophy, Certificate and a Cash Prize, in a high-profile Award Ceremony proposed to be held on Saturday, 9th November 2019.

Award Categories

  1. Enterprise Awards: There are 3 award categories, based on the nature and scale of the business. The 3 categories broadly are :
    • A1 : Initial Investment of the enterprise should not exceed more than 1 lakh
      • The sectors for enterprise awards are given in the following sectors
    • A2 : Initial investment of the enterprise should be greater than ₹ 1 Lakh but should not exceed ₹ 10 Lakhs
      • The sectors for enterprise awards are given in the following sectors
        • Agriculture
        • Chemicals
        • Engineering
        • Handicrafts
        • Healthcare
        • Hospitality
        • Logistics
        • Renewables
        • Textiles
    • A3 : Initial Investment of the Enterprise has to be above ₹10 Lakhs to ₹1 Crore
      • The sectors for enterprise awards are given in the following sectors
        • Agriculture
        • Chemicals
        • Handicrafts
        • Healthcare
        • Hospitality
        • Logistics
        • Renewables
        • Textiles
  2. Ecosystem Builder Awards: There are 6 categories for the award :
    • Entrepreneurship Development Institutes/ Organizations
    • Incubation Centres – Public Sector
    • Incubation Centres – Private Sector
    • Mentors – Public Sector
    • Mentors – Private Sector
    • Promoters of Rural Producer Enterprises

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Common Criteria for all Enterprise Award Categories: Applicable for Enterprise Award Categories, A1, A2, A3, including General and Special Category Awardees)
    • Entrepreneur’s age should be below the age of 40 years as on April 1st, 2019
    • The candidate should be a First-Generation Entrepreneur/s. The definition of a first-generation entrepreneur for the scheme is “An entrepreneur who is not in the same line of business as his/her parent. They should have started the enterprise on their own initiative, idea or innovation”.
    • An initial investment of the enterprise should not exceed 1 Lakh.
    • The enterprise should be a formal entity.
    • An entrepreneur must be a founder/co-founder of an enterprise/sole proprietorship firm/ partnership/ own account enterprise.
  2. Ecosystem Award
    • Institutions/organisations/incubators/mentors/promoters should have completed a minimum six (6) years of service in their respective field as on April 1st, 2019 can apply for this award. They should be well established and recognised in their field and entrepreneurship development.
      • Entrepreneurship Development Institutes/Organisations: Refers to Institutes/ organizations teaching, training and offering courses on entrepreneurship development. There is one (1) award under this category.
      • Incubation Centres: Refers to Institutes/organizations providing incubation, mentorship and handholding support. There are two (2) awards under this category, one for Incubation Centres in the Public Sector and one for Incubation Centres in the Private Sector
      • Mentors: Refers to educationists, advisors, consultants working towards entrepreneurship development. There are two (2) awards under this category, one for Mentors in the Public Sector and one for Mentors in the Private Sector.
      • Promoters of Rural Producer Enterprises: Refers to institutions/organizations or individuals directly involved in the promotion of farmer producer companies/cooperatives or SHG enterprises through mentoring and providing soft skill support such as development of organisational structure, training on management skills, conflict resolutions, etc. Such institutions/organisations may be governmental, non-governmental, private institutions or persons working in their individual capacity. There is one (1) award under this category.
