Open call for a Studio Residency Program – Belgium

#image_title

Deadline: 01-Nov-2025

Applicants are now invited to submit applications for the Studio Residency Program to support research, experimentation and creation in the performing arts.

The programme supports both research, experimentation and creation. It does not offer residencies in disciplines such as music or visual arts.

Residencies are offered year-round, except between mid-July and mid-August during the summer break, and during the Christmas holidays. Each residency lasts between one and three weeks, and in some cases, multiple residencies may be granted for a single project. Studios are not technically equipped or supported, but basic technical equipment such as a sound system, microphone, or projector may be provided where possible.

Overnight accommodation is available only for foreign artists or team members, depending on guesthouse availability, which includes two bedrooms with two single beds each and a baby cot. A flat fee of €750 (VAT included) is provided per selected project to cover travel expenses and lunch.

Artists also have the option to share their research, practice, or work with the team or fellow residents at the end of their residency, possibly as a (semi)public try-out. All residents working in the studios at the same time are invited to a communal lunch on Tuesdays, and the workspace library is open to all residents, with its collection expanded based on their suggestions.

Selections are based on the innovative or experimental nature of the project, programme diversity, and the feasibility of the proposal within the Brussels context. All applicants will receive a response via email two to three months after each deadline. However, due to the high volume of applications, personal feedback cannot be provided to those not selected.

Applications can be submitted in writing or via an audio or video recording, in Dutch, French, or English, through the online form provided. Project proposals can be submitted at any time, but selections are made twice a year in collaboration with an external jury, with a maximum of ten projects selected per round.

The upcoming deadlines are 1 November 2025 for residencies between August and December 2026, and 1 April 2026 for residencies between January and July 2027. Proposals should not be submitted too early, as partners’ schedules are not yet available.
