Deadline: Ongoing
The Heartefact is pleased to announce an ongoing open call for the Kosovo-Serbia Bridge Fellowship Program – a cross-border initiative that supports young professionals, researchers, and creatives from Kosovo and Serbia who are eager to build new and constructive narratives about the relations between the two societies.
The fellowship supports research projects that offer new insights into Kosovo–Serbia relations, develop constructive narratives that promote mutual understanding, and include a strong public or community engagement component.
Unlike previous editions, this year’s call for the Bridge Fellowship will remain open year-round, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis. Fellows will be selected based on the quality, originality, and potential impact of their proposed research and action plans. Over the next two years, Heartefact will select up to ten fellows—five from Kosovo and five from Serbia—to participate in a four-month program.
The fellowship includes three months of research on a selected topic related to Kosovo–Serbia relations, followed by a one-month residency in the other country, depending on the fellow’s origin. Throughout the program, fellows receive mentorship and editorial support to strengthen both their research and community engagement strategies.
Selected fellows will receive a fellowship grant of 3,000 USD, along with up to 800 USD for organizing community or outreach events. Additional support includes mentorship, editorial guidance, and covered travel and accommodation expenses during the one-month residency in Belgrade or Prishtina.
Designed to bridge ideas and people, the fellowship supports research that contributes to more informed public dialogue and meaningful policy change. It is open to professionals working in or affiliated with academia and research, civil society organizations and think tanks, media, culture, and creative industries, new media, technology, and IT, as well as activistic and informal groups.
Applications are particularly encouraged from individuals actively engaged in public discourse who wish to use research to inform, advocate, or inspire positive change. Applicants may also apply in pairs—one from Kosovo and one from Serbia—proposing complementary or joint research topics.
Interested candidates can apply by submitting a project proposal of up to three pages detailing the research abstract, topic relevance, methodology, timeline, required resources, and target interview groups, along with a short bio or CV.
An optional brief description of the proposed community engagement activity may also be included. All documents must be submitted in English with the subject line “Bridge Fellowship Application – [Your Name].”
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
