Applicants are invited to submit applications for the Alumni Small Grants Program which is jointly administered by the U.S. Embassy and the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network (PUAN).
In the previous grant cycle (2013 – 2016), PUAN awarded 150 grants for projects of up to US $5,000 to alumni across Pakistan. These projects helped increase mutual understanding, community engagement, and invested in people by funding programs that support improving educational opportunities.
Types of Grant
Two types of Alumni Small Grants opportunities are available.
- OPEN TOPICS: Project proposal on any theme/topic/subject area, provided it is in consistence with grant guidelines. Please read the eligibility criteria to find out what kind of projects can be funded. The maximum funding available under this category is PKR 500,000. PUAN reserves the right to award a grant at a higher amount in limited circumstances.
- SPECIAL THEMES: Proposals are solicited on pre-defined themes for each cycle. The maximum funding available under this category is PKR 1,000,000/-. The approved projects must be implemented during February-April 2019. For the current cycle, the themes are:
- Gender Equality
- Environmental protection, with focus on water, air, or wildlife
- Building workforce skills among underserved populations
Duration
The maximum duration for each project is four (4) months from the date of signing the Grant Award Document (GAD).
Eligibility Criteria
- All registered and verified exchange alumni in Pakistan are eligible to apply for the grant.
- Funding is available for projects that:
- Support and develop new Pakistani voices and leaders
- Provide educational or economic opportunities for Pakistani youth and the general public
- Create opportunities for engagement between the people of Pakistan and regional neighbors
- Advance the public good and promote community service in Pakistan
- Increase understanding about the United States and the American people, or strengthen mutual understanding between the United States and Pakistan.
How to Apply
- Applicant must submit a 60-second video clip explaining the project along with the application form.
- Application packet (forms, CVs, video) does not exceed 5MB in size.
- All project applications will be accepted quarterly and must be emailed at the address given on the website.
- Please mention the theme topic in the subject line of email while sending the proposal package.
