Small Grants to Support Promising Arts & Humanities Pilot Projects in Syria

Deadline: 17 February 2019

Cara’s Syria Programme is now seeking applications from Syrian academics in exile for grants of up to £3,000 to provide seed-funding to support promising Arts and Humanities pilot projects, for proposals that are at too early a stage to attract larger funding, for ‘proof of concept’ projects, or for preliminary research to allow the development of larger research proposals for subsequent submission to Cara or other relevant funders.

Cara Small Grants are offered as part of the Cara Syria Programme, the aim of which is to strengthen and connect Syria’s academics in exile by facilitating their continued academic development, collaboration, engagement and contribution, and so to ensure that this vital part of Syria’s intellectual capital is not lost for the greater good.

This new Arts & Humanities strand of the Cara Syria Programme (Strand 6) is supported by the Andrew W Mellon Foundation, which includes the following disciplines within the Arts & Humanities: Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, Classics, Geography (human), History, Linguistics and Languages, Law and Politics, Literature, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Religion and the Visual Arts.

Funding Information

Grants Grants of up to £3,000 will be offered to successful applicants whose disciplines sit within the Arts & Humanities as listed above.

Eligibility Criteria

Only Syrian academics whose disciplines sit within the Arts & Humanities, who have been directly affected by the current crisis and who are currently living in exile in countries neighbouring Syria are eligible to submit proposals.
