U.S Embassy in Trinidad & Tobago has announced Youth Ambassadors Program 2019 that brings together high school students and adult mentors from countries across the Americas to promote mutual understanding, increase leadership skills, and prepare youth to make a difference in their communities.
The Youth Ambassadors Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by World Learning. Youth Ambassadors exchanges are implemented by World Learning or their partners at Amigos de las Americas, Georgetown University CIED or SUNY Plattsburgh.
The U.S. Embassy is looking for seven students between the ages 15-18 years and one adult mentor to participate in a three-week exchange program, August 8-26, in the U.S.
Goals
Program goals:
- To develop a cadre of young adults who have a strong sense of civic responsibility, a commitment to community development, an awareness of current & global issues, and strong interpersonal leadership skills.
- To foster relationships among youth from different ethnic, religious, and national groups.
- To promote mutual understanding, respect and collaboration between the United States and their South American counterparts.
