To accelerate efforts to address the complex drivers of gender-based violence (GBV) and sorcery accusation related violence (SARV) across Papua New Guinea, UNDP and the Department for Community Development and Religion (DfCDR) will be providing grants to support projects of civil society organizations and non-governmental organizations tackling GBV and SARV in the country for the second year in a row.
Strengthening support to civil society organizations in the GBV sector is vital to promote positive behavior change in the country, and DfCDR and UNDP take the role of improving the quality of the lives of the most vulnerable and marginalized in PNG to imrpove gender equality and peaceful communities seriously.
Areas
Specifically, the proposed projects must contribute to some or all of the following areas:
- Responding to SARV and/or GBV, by providing crisis responses services (including repatriation and reintegration) and other similar activities;
- Operating safe houses for GBV or SARV survivors;
- Providing counselling services to GBV or SARV survivors or perpetrators;
- Engaging in GBV and/or SARV education or prevention activities;
- Providing training or capacity building to organizations working to support SARV or GBV survivors.
Funding Information
- Each call for proposal can submit for grant funding up to 200,000 kina each.
Criteria
- Together, they are calling for proposals from registered non-government organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), community-based organizations (CBOs) and faith-based organizations (FBOs) that have demonstrated experience in implementing activities related to addressing GBV and/or SARV, or are currently working with their Provincial GBV focal point or regional Referral Pathway network.
