$1,000,000 Relief and Recovery Fund for Communities in Need (Cambodia)

Deadline: 15-Sep-2025

The Smart Axiata has launched a heartfelt commitment to support communities affected by the recent Cambodia–Thailand border conflict through its “Together with Cambodia” Relief and Recovery Fund.

With a total pledge of $1,000,000 over three years, this initiative is aimed at supporting individuals and communities in need across Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Pursat provinces, with the potential to extend to other areas as needs are identified.

The Fund is immediately focused on delivering short-term relief, prioritizing emergency housing and shelter support for displaced Cambodians. It also ensures the delivery of essential food packages, with more than 17,000 already distributed to evacuees and frontline personnel to sustain their basic needs while further assistance continues.

Beyond immediate aid, the Fund has a forward-looking vision that addresses mid- to long-term recovery. It seeks to enhance digital access and connectivity, ensuring that affected communities retain access to vital online services. At the same time, it supports the revival of micro and small enterprises—such as agriculture, retail, and handicrafts—by providing equipment and digital tools. To further assist displaced families and military communities, funding is also dedicated to improving access to education and healthcare.

Oversight of the Fund is entrusted to an independent Board of Trustees, which ensures that the Fund remains transparent, accountable, and effective in reaching those most in need. Guided by principles of inclusivity, community-driven solutions, and digital innovation, the initiative is designed not only to meet immediate humanitarian needs but also to build long-term resilience within the most affected communities.
